Operation Phoenix is on a mission to help you when aging out of foster care with a place to live, a place to learn, a place to work, and a place to grow. We’ve walked in your shoes and know how difficult growing up in the foster care system truly is.

We have good news, Age Out of the Ashes is created just for you! Our supervised independently-living program operates by former fosters and foster care professionals. Our all-inclusive program offers affordable housing, self-paced educational learning, in-house paid employment, and the essential life skills needed to reach your fullest potential and become an independent adult.

We call it an experience because our program is more than just another foster care halfway house or group home. We’re the family you can trust to have your back. Not only during your stay with us but most importantly after.

LIFE IN FOSTER CARE

No matter your age, being removed from your home is hard. Through no fault of your own, you may have been a victim of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment. The lasting effects of those experiences can make your adjustment to state care even harder. Sadly, foster care is not without instability and unfamiliarity. Foster care can be an unfortunate cycle of a new home, new parents, new siblings, new school, and repeat. If you are not adopted into a forever family before your 18th birthday, aging out of state custody may prove to be the hardest.

Aging Out is a term used to describe an exit from foster care when the foster reaches the age of majority. On that day, you will pack up your belongings and officially become an adult. Meaning you will be solely responsible for where you’ll live and how you will support yourself. But, you may not know how to live independently. Foster care may not have taught you the life skills needed to make the transition successfully.

Without on-going support and a solid aftercare plan, 60% of fosters find themselves homeless before 24. Aging out fosters are at a much higher risk of dropping out of school, becoming jobless, addictions, incarceration, and more. With our support, you can become a Phoenix – one who rises from the ashes of their circumstances.
