Christina’s foster care story begins in 1987 when she was just an infant. She was born into a poverty-stricken family. Christina was only a few months old when she and her four older siblings were removed from their home, split up, and entered Florida’s foster care system.

Joan "Joanie" Johanesen, MSW, Ph.D.
Vice President
Joanie grew up in a household where her parents and grandparents were politically involved and very active in their community. She learned early on that her responsibility extends past the safety of the walls of her home. Throughout most of her life, her parents and sister’s family fostered children for Little Flowers Children’s Home.
